From Customer Pain Point to Published App in One Afternoon
By Sean Sweeney, Founder – Valley Technology Partners
During a visit to one of our managed services clients, I watched an employee dealing with a suboptimal technical workflow. When documenting vehicle issues for customer quotes, they’d take a photo, open a separate markup app like Apple Photos that didn’t remember any of their settings between sessions, try to circle problem areas with protective gloves on, add text labels that were at times hard to read, export, and attach to their invoice system. The whole process took 3-5 minutes per photo. “There should be an easier way,” I thought, and we agreed to take a deeper look at it.

In less than 6 hours, working with Claude (Anthropic’s AI assistant), I built and deployed EasyAnnotation; a purpose-built iPad app that lets techs open photos, add large glove-friendly annotations (circles, arrows, and text), and export high-resolution images ready for invoicing. What took a few minutes now takes 30 seconds. For a busy shop doing several documented repairs per day, that adds up. The app works for any field service business: HVAC techs documenting equipment issues, electricians showing code violations, roofing contractors highlighting damage, or general contractors documenting work progress.
If you’re spending more than 30 minutes per week on a repetitive digital task, let’s talk. Modern AI development has fundamentally changed what’s possible for custom software.
